Getting here
Sneem sits on the N70 — the famous Ring of Kerry route — on the Iveragh Peninsula, roughly 27 km west of Kenmare and 56 km from Killarney. Coaches and cars circling the Ring pass right through the village.
Make a morning of it: browse the shelves, have a coffee at the big table, then walk the Sculpture Trail around the two village squares or follow Úna's tips for the best local walks.
The white house with the navy door
We're in Fordham House on the South Square — by the village green, beside the start of the Sneem Sculpture Trail. Look for the white two-storey facade with SNEEM BOOK SHOP in black lettering, a navy front door with flower pots either side, and a bright blue bench for tired walkers. In the window you'll see the gold lettering: Tar isteach, mo chara — "Come in, my friend."
If you've reached the bridge over the Sneem River, you've gone one square too far — turn back to the South Square.
Landmarks nearby
The South Square green with its sculptures is right in front of us; the John Egan GAA memorial statue stands on the square too. If a tour coach has stopped for photos, you're within a minute's walk of our door.

Starts on the South Square, steps from our door — including memorials to Cearbhall Ó Dálaigh and Charles de Gaulle, who came to Sneem seeking peace in 1969.
The village squares
Sneem's famously colourful houses ring two greens joined by a bridge over the tumbling Sneem River. Bring a camera.
